Paris Alto
Which Selmer Paris Alto Saxophone would be best?
I am entering my senior year this fall and looking to upgrade to a Selmer Paris. I plan to possibly play in college as well, so I need somthing that would be compatable for that kind of play(Classical, Jazz) I am limited to a used one more than likely due to budget($2200 or so). Iv’e been playing on a Selmer AS500 for the past two years.
Ones i’ve been looking at-
~Selmer Paris Super Action 80 Series II
~Selmer Paris Series III
~Selmer Paris Mark VI(usually in bad condition)
~Selmer Paris Mark VII(usually in bad condition)
Just looking for some honest opinions about these horns..
Thanks sooo much!
The Selmer Mark VI (6) is considered by many (most?) to be the best Selmer Alto made. I got mine in the early ’60′s new for about $500. The last time I priced a used Mark VI on line they were about $4000-$4500. If you can find one cheap enough in fair to good condition then get it and have it reconditioned by a competent repairman. You will probably want different mouthpieces for concert and jazz playing.
Good luck in your quest.
