What are some of your family’s Christmas traditions?
I have divorced parents so the holidays have become somewhat of a grim reminder. But I’m going to need some ideas for when I start my own picture perfect family with a professional (American) football player 
Our is pretty great, I’m only 15.
On Christmas Eve, we eat a simple dinner like pasta or chicken or something, then we go to church and watch our local church’s christmas pageant with all the young kids. When we get back, we sit around the fire, and my christmas tree, then after 45 minutes of relieving past memories and christmases, we read the age old book “The Night Before Christmas”. This is a very special part of our Christmas tradition, because the book is over 60 years old, and it is still in tact, and because we all sit around, every person in my family (Mom, Dad, Sister, Grandparents, Aunts,Uncles) and take turns reading the lines of this book. Then, we open one present, and call it a night.
On Christmas Day, we wake up at about 8. We go to my moms room and open our stockings with Hot Chocolate or Coffee. Then, we go downstairs and wait for the rest of the family to come over. We then go and open all our Christmas Day presents. This takes a few hours. Then we have brunch, and then we go enjoy ourselves.
My personal favorite part of Christmas is the “Gift Hunt” for kids. Basically, my grandpa writes these riddles, and it leads us to gifts. He gives hints to where the next clue will be, like a bird bath, or a washing machine, or the dead end outside my house. Eventually you find the gift and its a big spectacle opening it. Its really a great tradition we have.
Thats what my family has done for Christmas every year since before I was born. Its really great, and feel free to adopt these traditions as your own when you have a family one day
