Questons about Baritone sax and Soprano sax?

Which one takes less air/ force to play? Which one, out of the two would be eaiser to play for a beginner? Is there a difference between their reeds? And Which one (In your opinion) sounds better? And I have played other instruments before, just not the sax, so stuff like matching pitch, and controlling air will be new to me. And don’t say most people start with the Alto sax, I already know that, that’s not what I asked.

Soprano takes less air. Its smaller and requires less to get the bell of the horn to vibrate. Pitch on the soprano takes a bit more control to handle it properly. Bari is a bear but its got a cool sound to it. Sounds better is relative to context, for instance a soprano just wouldn’t work in the Simpson’s cartoon intro versus a Soprano. Some Latin music you just gotta have Bari in the horn section. Think of it this way…5 french horns don’t have the same affect as 5 strings will – in an orchestra.
As far as less air/force to play…Its all in you mouthpiece/reed combination. Thickness of reed alone will have an affect on how hard you have to blow. Mouthpiece opening and bore size is another thing to consider. Try a bunch of mouthpiece/reed combinations (its like trying on shoes – everybody has a different fit) at your music store or ask someone…take a lesson or two. You’ll probably go through a couple of different sizes as you grow with experience.
