Saxophone upgrade???????

Does anybody know a good intermediate alto saxophone with good tone/sound projection while being unexpensive?

I’ve been playing a basic Yamaha YAS-23 for 9 years, and won some awards and scholarships for it. Keilwerth and Selmer are the higher-end saxes. But for better tone and projection, I would upgrade the mouthpiece first. I have an Otto Link metal one, which is great for jazz, as well as a Runyon Quantum ($150 tag!) which could shatter windows if I wanted it to.
